Cornwall Coast Path

Cosy Cottages for Coastal Walking Holidays

With 700 miles of magnificent, dramatic coastal footpaths to explore, Cornwall is a walker’s paradise at any time of the year. For the very best in comfort and location, book a stay at Greenmeadow Cottages this autumn and discover everything this great county has to offer.

Situated in Goonhavern, just three miles from Perranporth, Greenmeadow Cottages are ideal for anyone looking for a real countryside retreat. Set around a gravel courtyard, there are five cosy cottages available to let, all sleeping up to six guests. The Oak, Ash and Beech cottages all offer one double, one twin and one bunk bed room, whilst the Willow and Elm cottages both offer one en-suite double, one double and one twin room. The cottages boast a spacious and relaxing lounge area, with television, video, DVD player and Freeview, as well as a separate dining room. The kitchen is also fully-equipped to cater for all of your holiday needs with a built-in oven, hob, fridge and microwave.

The five properties are furnished in a country style and all linen is provided, along with a complimentary welcome pack, which includes a few basic essentials. The Oak and Ash cottages are also dog-friendly. Each cottage is finished with a slate floor, exposed beams and a wood burning stove; a cosy treat for those cold winter nights. To the back of the cottages you will find communal lawns and a large covered barbecue and eating area, which are ideal during the summer months. A laundry room can also be found just across the courtyard and houses washing machines, a tumble dryer and freezer.

Cornwall really is the perfect location for those looking for a challenging, yet rewarding walking holiday. Accessing the rugged coastal footpaths of this vast and varied county has often been a problem for many tourists. However, owner of Greenmeadow Cottages, Ian Bodie, has devised the perfect solution which will allow you to leave the car at home. He explains: “It’s such an asset. Guests can be driven to the exact point they want to start their walk and I will pick them up at an agreed time and place later in the day. If for some reason they go further than expected, or perhaps not quite as far, they can telephone me to change the arrangements. It’s all completely flexible.”

You can choose a point to start along the many miles of coastal footpaths, between Newquay, situated on the north coast, and St Austell, located on the south coast. Ian adds: “One huge advantage is that they can leave all their things at base, walk all over the county, even as far as Land’s End, without having to change accommodation. The Land Rover is the perfect vehicle, it can tackle almost any terrain.” Along the coastal paths you will find many charming, welcoming fishing villages, which are home to a delightful selection of traditional pubs, full of hearty food and tasty ales. The take and drop service is charged at just £35 per cottage, per day, and Ian also offers a free taxi service for those arriving in Cornwall at Truro/ Newquay railway stations and Newquay Airport.

Greenmeadow is an idyllic retreat and each season brings with it great surprises. Ian says: “It’s lovely and quiet here, making Greenmeadow a secluded base from which to enjoy the true beauty of Cornwall. The scenery here is phenomenal, particularly during the autumn, so it’s ideal for walkers. We also offer good value for money and ultimately, Greenmeadow has been designed to reflect the type of holiday accommodation I would like to stay in myself.”

Greenmeadow is open all year round, with cottages available for weekend breaks, week-long stays, as well as longer holidays. For more information, including a detailed pricelist, visit:
